First Sunday

Posted:

As a vehicle for Ice Cube's comic talents, "First Sunday" never gets out of first gear. It plods along at a sluggard's pace through a weak premise with crude execution and even cruder characters to arrive at an unearned sentimental ending.

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story

Posted:

After a barrage of downer movies, finally a holiday release that's all about making spirits bright. This pitch-perfect musical comedy at long last moves the talented John C. Reilly up the billing ladder from second banana to top banana.

Om Shanti Om

Posted:

CHENNAI, India -- As a spoof of the 1970s Bollywood, Farah Khan's "Om Shanti Om" is well -conceived and executed. As a story about reincarnation, it disappoints.

U2 3D

Billed as the first digital 3-D, multicamera, real-time production, this feature-length feast for the eyes and ears (thanks to the all-enveloping 5.1 Surround Sound), re-creates the U2 live experience without interruptions by the intrusive, talky backstage filler that seems to have become obligatory in the recorded "live" genre.
