Quaker Working on Oatmeal-Delivering Alarm Clock

I'm not going to discuss which breakfast cereal or porridge you eat but what I can tell you is that Quaker Oats is currently working on Oatmeal-Delivering Alarm Clock. Now it sounds kind of those sci-fi thingies that we watched in Absentminded Professor or Honey I Shrunk the kids, where the morning breakfast is made ready with the help of gadgets. Apparently the device being worked on will ensure that you will have a steaming hot bowl of oatmeal...

JCB Toughphone will take all the abuse

I remember the Motorola ad that I had seen once (ages ago), it showed a kid dropping his dad's phone from the slide and it went dang…dang…. dang…and I went Ouch! Obviously there was not a scratch on the phone. But times have changed and the phones have got more delicate and sophisticated but we still got butter fingers. Hence its good to know that JCB (the world's third largest construction equipment manufacturer) in partnership with Peter Jones' mobile...

Smart-e-bear, smart-e-dog and smart-e-cat will be the number-one purchase in the 2008 Christmas shopping list, or so claim Kids Preferred. Honda taps into engine heat, to power hybrids.

Hybrid cars have a wonderful way of harnessing energy every time the driver brakes. This technology has been further developed by car maker Honda. It's come up with a way of generating power by the heat that's produced in the engine or the brakes. The Japanese auto giant has released a paper detailing how a Rankine cycle co-generation unit could help recharge the battery in a hybrid and thereby increase gas mileage. Honda put the Rankine unit in a...

Mitsubishi 65 inch Laser TV

LCD TV's were the past, OLED TV's are the present and Laser TV's will be the future. Mitsubishi Japan has already developed an experimental 65 inch Laser TV which uses 3 color Laser for illumination. The experimental model is rather thick at 10 inches (app 25.4 cms), surely the end when goes commercial will be much thinner. To make use of Laser technology 'super wide angular optical engine' has been developed which miniaturizes the optical system. The TV can...

400,000 unlocked iPhones on China's networks.

China Mobile, the biggest wireless carrier in China, said there were 400,000 unlocked iPhones operating on its network at the end of 2007. If true, that represents more than 10% of the 3.7 million iPhones Apple (AAPL) sold last year. Market research firm In-Stat, which included the stat in an email newsletter today, said that total was four times what they had previously estimated. That helps explain where many of the "missing" iPhones have wound up. This is mixed...

Nokia E71 sneak peek.

With all the attention being showered at 3GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it's hard to remember that what's cooking up in Australia may be more delightful than anything else. The Nokia E71 showed its face to a few eyes down under and although information is usually scant at this stage, the handset is purported to come with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microSD expansion card slot, QWERTY keyboard, 3.2-megapixel camera, and onboard GPS....

South Park goes hi-tech

The above is a 5 minute South Park style short flick done by the folks at Um-brella.com site. There is a little bit of bashing for all Nokia, Apple, and Microsoft. Hell, if Trey Parker and Matt Stone were so inclined, they could just order this thing up and plop it down on Comedy Central without changing much at all. Source...

HD-DVD could be the world's most expensive beta test.

Seems the war of the DVD formats will be over soon, sales of the HD-DVD aren't up to the mark. Since the beginning of the year, when Warner Bros. announced that it was pulling support for HD DVD, the prospects appeared grim. Toshiba and some of the other backers of the format put on a brave face. Throughout the battle with Blu-ray, Toshiba and the HD DVD Promotions Group had fought aggressively to defend HD DVD, even as Warner...

Wayward Satellite to be terminated by the Pentagon.

It seems the spy satellite that had wandered through space for some while now(and we covered a while back) may have a little more than just your average plutonium on board, no wonder the Pentagon is going to use modified SM-3 missiles fired from a cruiser and destroyer off the Northwest coast of Hawaii to take the thing out. The weapons have additional fuel and new software which will allow them to reach the object in orbit, thus blasting...
